That suggests that he was actually with them in the first place, originally.
It ain't much of a stretch to go from "they had it once but lost it" to "they probably never had it", though.
last night i ran into a former elder friend, he is in his late 70s.
he asked how i was doing and i asked how he was doing.
then out of the blue he tells me; .

let's pretend this might happen.
im not asking what it will mean for the jdubs or for the organization, but what will it mean for you---- if one day you wake up and the watchtower drops the 1914 doctrine.. (you know at some point they have to, but probably not our lifetime).
if you are disfellowshipped or disassociated and have been shunned by your parents, by your children, by you spouse or ex-husband/wife, for years or even less, will you call your relatives and ask/tell them;.
I understand many jw will still not wake up, but would the news of dropping 1914 impel an ex-jw to approach his jw relatives and point out that the basis for believing in the last days is over. Would it give you an incentive to go tell them, "It's over, you were following false prophets, it's time to reexamine your religion"
Or would you just leave your relatives alone.
I personally would give it a shot and try to help them see that it's over. The last days starting in 1914 was a scam.

“Are you going to talk to me now?”
“I guess Jesus didn’t start to rule in 1914!”
“Are you going to keep following the Watchtower?”
“Are you going to keep on preaching?”
“I told you so”
Would it make a big impact on your life? Would you be pissed of at your relatives for all the time lost? Would you want them back in your life after all the years of shunning?
in chapter 2 of acts ,this is the seen of pentecost and the speaking of tongues.
people started freaking out thinking these people are drunk an peter gets up and says in verses 16-17 these people are not drunk this in the fulfilment of the prophecy written in joel.
he goes on to describe all these things and those accomplishes by jesus and says these are the last days.

Very true but the dubbies would say there was a past and a modern fulfillment
another "generation" thread....i know!
when splane wanted a scripture that demonstrated the bible's use of the word he went all the way back to moses and used ex.
1.6. he could have stayed in the same book and used matthew chapter 1,written by the same hand.
a question for those still attending i guess but are all these new jw.telemuppet.org broadcasts advertised to the the rank and file or is it more of a background thing?.
i'm wondering because i just can't believe my 70 year old die-hard jw mum would ever see them if she wasn't sat down in front of a screen and someone clicked 'play' for her.
i really want her to see the wizards behind the curtain.

My wife (in her early 30s) recently said that she fully expects to grow old and die before the new system comes. I asked her why she doesn't believe what they're telling her - that it's going to come soon - and she couldn't answer.
Wow, Wow, Wow--------I'm at a loss of words.I don't even know what to think anymore on how to help some of these JWs.
so i'm thinking...my daughter has a great grand mother that was born in 1900. she was 14 years old in the 1914 year.. well this grand lady died in 1990. my daughter was about 9 years old at that time.
so my daughter can live until 2065.. she will be about 84 in the year 2065. so this "new light" means that 2065 is the new 1914?.
can someone say im right?.
You know we're not the only ones talking about this. There are probably many jws families secretly discussing this.
What will happen in the next 5 years????
let's review: it's a cult!.
allrighty--got thinking about it in this thread.
isn't it odd that, of all things, that isn't on the list of df offenses?
But on the slim chance that such things could present a clear danger
Man Caleb, if that turned out to be true, it would change my whole freaking paradigm again.
